Operations Associate – Derivative Settlements

What is the opportunity?
The Associate on Derivative settlements will be part of a fast-paced team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of the contractual settlement obligations of derivative trade and transaction activity, meeting various deadlines across a range of derivative products, covering operational and settlement risk with bilateral, central counterparty clearing, prime brokerage and custodian processing.
What will you do?- Derivative trade settlement and lifecycle event processing including, but not limited to; credit events, corporate actions, resets, fees, exercises, maturities and claims.
- Accurate and timely investigation and resolution of reconciliation differences to parties of risk including; bank accounts, counterparties, clearing brokers.
- Working in collaborative partnership with colleagues across the business including; portfolio managers, traders, reference data, middle office, treasury, collateral management, operations control, information technology, operational risk, fund accounting, sales, compliance and regulatory reporting.
- Working in collaborative partnership with external parties including; clients, custodians, banks, brokers, prime brokers, clearers, fund administrators, auditors.
- Identify areas for process improvement, and work with other departments and colleagues to get improvements developed and released.
- Contribution to change management scenarios including; account transitions, applications, market events, regulatory initiatives, client requirements
- Contribution to user acceptance testing of applications
- Update procedures to keep them relevant and concise
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have- Competent knowledge of financial products, particularly derivative products including, but not limited to; Credit Default Swaps, Interest Rate Swaps, Total Return Swaps, Futures, Options and Foreign Exchange
- Competent knowledge of the trade and transaction lifecycle, particularly in derivative products.
- Good risk awareness for critical deadlines, key controls and timely escalation
- Usage of MS Office applications, or reasonable equivalent, to intermediate level
- Good communication skills in a variety of media and scenarios.
- Open and able to demonstrate critical thinking and application of change.
- Ability to self-organise, prioritise and work to deadlines and a strong appetite to learn and share knowledge
- Usage of SimCorp Dimension or similar settlement application.
- Knowledge of SWIFT.
- Usage of SmartStream TLM Reconciliations and TriOptima TriResolve or similar reconciliation applications.
- Knowledge of MarkitSERV, DS Match, TradeServ, CLS & FIA tech Docs would be beneficial, as well as knowledge of Charles River, FX All, Tradeweb, Bloomberg & Alert
