Status: (1) Contract Full Time, up to 12 Months and (1) Contract Full Time, up to 18 monthsSalary Range: $89,469 - $111,834 per annum + comprehensive benefits

Hours of work: 35 hours per week
The Communicable Diseases team supports the advancement of communicable diseases control through critical program and policy analysis, monitoring and assessment of legislation, data anlysis, completion of evidence reviews, and the writing of reports/corporate communications.This position provides expert guidance and advice on the development and implementation of programs, policies, processes and objectives.
What you will do in this role:
- Apply advanced knowledge of public health regarding population health, social determinants of health, epidemiology and evidence-informed decision making
- Interpret and analyze information to provide strategic recommendations that will guide policy and programming decisions
- Conduct literature reviews and utilize epidemiological data sources on communicable diseases trends to ensure that program best practices are in place
- Research and write policies, procedures and related best practices including program manuals and medical directives and keep up to date
- Lead evaluation design for communicable disease control programs in conjunction with program supervisors
- Write reports on key communicable disease control issues faced by the community or other high-risk groups
- Participate on provincial public health networks for communicable disease management to communicate and ensure consistent practice related to our policy
- Monitor and evaluate the local implications of provincial and federal health policy decisions
- Act as an educational resource on policy, practice and medical directives to front line supervisors and staff
- Design and deliver ongoing training sessions for staff on policy changes, medical directives, practice changes and core competencies for public health practitioners
- Offer expertise as a subject matter expert with community institutions and provincial networks/committees regarding communicable diseases issues as they relate to public health practice
- Prepare a wide range of written and visual communication products such as reviews of research evidence, briefing documents, policy positions and presentations
What the role requires:
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Science, Policy, Planning, Health Administration, Epidemiology, Nursing, Nutrition or related degree
- At least three (3) years of work experience in a Public Health setting
- Combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills/Abilities:
- Broad knowledge of public health issues and communicable diseases control program and applicable legislation
- Experience in evidence-informed decision-making methodology, project management, project leadership
- Experience with epidemiological study design and application of research evidence in practice
- Knowledge of analytical, statistical, and epidemiological methods
- Experience in policy and procedure development
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team setting and across organizational boundaries
- Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of discretion and diplomacy
- Excellent facilitation, presentation, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information for a variety of audiences
- Strong research (with knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods) and analytical skills
- Well-developed report writing skills
