Service Worker I

Works under the direction of physical therapists and occupational therapists within pediatric, adult, and/or older adult rehab programs. The assignment may change to support operations. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team and other service workers to prioritize work, cover for absences, and proactively solve problems.
Responsible for distributing and replenishing hospital supplies throughout the units, ordering supplies and maintaining inventory, forecasting and adjusting orders; collaborates with treatment teams to adjust processes as needed; prepares treatment media as directed; maintains cleanliness, following IPC cleaning and safety/PPE protocols, ensures safety and orderliness of treatment and storage areas, and performs other support/clerical duties as required.
Reports to the managers of Physical Therapy Services. As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed.
You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required. Grade 12 or equivalent. A minimum of three years of previous experience working in a tertiary rehabilitation setting across the lifespan of Pediatric to Older Adult programs is required.
Experience working within a team of service workers, demonstrating critical thinking and collaboration skills, to ensure exceptional service is maintained across multiple programs. Excellent problem-solving skills. Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, experience, and a proven ability to prioritize and organize work assignments with minimal direction and little supervision are required.
Extensive knowledge and experience following current IPC-enhanced cleaning protocols is required. Must be able to perform physically demanding activities, applying appropriate body mechanics and following all safety protocols, utilizing required PPE.
