Overview

As a Quality Continuous Improvement Engineer (QCI), you will be actively involved in analyzing the existing product quality and spearheading improvement initiatives across various teams. Your role is pivotal in maintaining the highest quality standards consistently.
You will work closely with Manufacturing, R&D, Sales, Marketing, and other related departments to pinpoint the root causes of any product quality issues. Furthermore, you will manage and coordinate projects aimed at enhancing product quality.

This position reports to the Director of Quality Continuous Improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive assessments of bakery products to gauge their quality against predefined benchmarks.
  • Pinpoint deficiencies and potential areas for enhancing quality.
  • Work in unison to devise and execute action plans aimed at rectifying the identified issues.
  • Keep a close watch on the progress of improvement initiatives and fine-tune as required.
  • Gather and scrutinize data pertaining to product quality and manufacturing processes.
  • Communicate insights and suggestions to the bakery’s leadership teams.
  • Provide assistance to bakery teams in collecting data/samples for Quality Continuous Improvement (CI) projects and other related activities.
  • Take the lead in conducting in-store product quality evaluations with bakery leaders, focusing on the quality of products at their final stage before consumers make a purchase.
  • Offer support to bakery quality leaders in probing consumer complaints, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective measures.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a car.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Food Science
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in data analysis using Microsoft Excel and Power BI
  • Knowledge and experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Availability to work weekends and night if required
  • Experience in Quality Assurance is a plus
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement, preferably in the food manufacturing industry, is a plus
  • Strong experience in project management is a plus
  • Must be willing to travel in Ontario and Canada, including overnight travel.
