Consultant - IFRS 17 & Financial Reporting

This is a 1 year contract. Our client within the Insurance industry is looking to hire a Consultant with strong experience in Financial reporting and IFRS 17 insurance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee consolidated general ledger and financial reporting systems (Essbase and EAS) for data integrity and accuracy.
2. Manage all financial reporting, including board reports, internal statements, Canadian IFRS statements, and solvency ratios (LICAT, RBC).
3. Prepare and coordinate regulatory filings (OSFI, NAIC) for Canadian and US operations.
4. Lead quarterly/annual financial reviews, ensure compliance with deadlines, and resolve issues with auditors, regulators, and senior management.
5. Review reconciliations, approve journal entries, and support system upgrades/enhancements.
6. Act as the primary advisor on IFRS, OSFI, and NAIC regulatory changes impacting reporting.
7. Collaborate across departments to maintain accurate financial controls and procedural documents.
8. Drive process improvements in accounting and reporting functions for efficiency and compliance.
9. Liaise with senior leadership and auditors, providing insights on key financial and operational initiatives.
10. Mentor and support Financial Reporting and Investment Services teams.
