Our client is looking for a Vice President of Finance to play a key role in the growth and leadership of the company. This individual will be a key member of the leadership team, serving as a strategic advisor to the CEO and managing all financial affairs to support strategic growth and profitability of the business.

The Vice President of Finance also leads the functions and activities of the Finance/Treasury, Accounting, Budgeting, Payroll, IT and Facilities portfolios, designing and implementing effective processes, enhancing operational performance, maintaining compliance, and ensuring the security and safety of financial information for the company.

Specific accountabilities of the Vice President of Finance:

Strategic Financial Leadership / Financial Strategy & Planning
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives;
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and leadership team based on financial analysis and projections;
  • Lead financial planning and analysis function to ensure robust budgeting, forecasting and effective planning processes;
  • Participate in key decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models;
  • Set financial measurement standards and develop systems to monitor and evaluate performance against strategic goals;
  • Identify & evaluate opportunities for cost reductions and to improve operational efficiency;
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, proactive relationships with key stakeholders including board, investors, banking partners, external auditors, suppliers, vendors, etc.
Financial Operations, Management & Analysis
  • Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, treasury, tax & audit functions;
  • Ensure robust management and financial controls to safeguard assets, ensure compliance, and enhance operational efficiency;
  • Develop and optimize finance and accounting standard operating procedures and processes;
  • Manage all aspects of financial reporting, including preparing and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery; Adhere to regulatory standards and industry best practices;
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks;
  • Perform comprehensive financial analysis and collaborate with the team to provide actionable insights to team and help guide strategic and investment decision-making;
  • Ensure the integrity and efficiency of cash flow, receivables, and payables management, optimizing liquidity and financial health;
  • Develop and implement business reporting tools and templates to provide the organization with business performance metrics to assist in managing and growing the business.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement;
  • Provide mentorship & professional development opportunities to finance team members;
  • Promote collaboration and cross-functional teamwork within the finance department and across the organization;
  • Act as a visible leader and an agent of change in finance and across the organization.
Business Partnering
  • Partner with business units to drive financial performance and achieve growth targets;
  • Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plans of the company and collaborate with colleagues to bring departments in line with plans, initiatives and recommendations;
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop pricing strategies and optimize revenue models.
Risk Management
  • Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and tax requirements;
  • Implement processes to ensure financial data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all reporting systems;
  • Ensure robust controls are in place to protect the company’s proprietary IP and other assets;
  • Ensure the company’s assets are safeguarded through appropriate insurance and risk mitigation strategies.
Growth Transformation
  • Drive financial efficiency across the organization by implementing cost-saving initiatives, digital tools & technology and enhancing financial processes and reporting;
  • Support our growth and transforming the company’s finance function as the business evolves.

Essential qualifications:

  • CPA or CMA, with a minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance leadership within food manufacturing, pharmaceutical or CPG environment. Master's Degree an asset;
  • Proven track record of supporting and driving strategic decision making and successfully managing financial operations in fast-paced, high-growth companies
  • Transformational agent who is comfortable working in a high growth company and is passionate about transforming finance functions as the business evolves;
  • Proven success with building and enhancing finance and accounting processes
  • Expertise in financial modelling, business reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in dealing with accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, auditors, administrative procedures, business planning and asset management;
  • Demonstrated business acumen and superior analytical skills, especially in strategic financial analysis and business planning;
  • Ability to lead and inspire a high-performing cross-functional team;
  • Exceptional relationship developer working with organizational partners to facilitate change while fostering a culture of creativity and innovation;
  • Strong project management experience, including demonstrated ability to efficiently plan, organize, and manage complex, multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Ability to execute on a range of initiatives and inspire organizational change;
  • Ability to see the big picture and align performance to the strategic goals of the organization;
  • Ability to adapt quickly and excel in the dynamic environment of a rapidly growing company with a national supply chain and distribution.
