The Managing Director, Institutional Trading role at Stifel Canada is both challenging and stimulating. You will be responsible for managing and executing trading strategies for an established client coverage network and explore new relationships within Canada and the U.S. The role focuses on optimizing trade execution, strengthening client relationships and driving business growth.You will be working in a dynamic team environment and will be working closely with the sales and research team. This individual is an exceptional leader who has extensive experience in institutional trading, strong client connections and a deep understanding of market conditions and risk management.

What We're Looking For:
The Managing Director, Institutional Trading will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Manage client relationships; develop and maintain relationships with institutional clients;
- Execute client trades by analyzing and reacting to current market conditions through bidding, trading, and use of algo trading strategies;
- Analyze and interpret market conditions/movement in order to achieve best execution;
- Work closely with the desk team to effectively maximize company’s positions;
- Make sales calls to clients and convey market insights along with firm research;
- Partner with other departments to identify and facilitate business process improvements;
- Risk management - maintain liability losses; and
- Act ethically at all times, by ensuring all transactions and procedures are in accordance with governing rules and regulations and in accordance with company policies.

- Solid time management, verbal and written communication, interpersonal and team player skills;
- Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making skills;
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment;
- Familiar with trading programs; and
- Able to excel in high-pressure situations.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum Required: Undergraduate degree in business, focus on economics, finance or related field.
- Additional post-secondary education including MBA, or CFA or CPA are strongly desirable but not necessary.
- Minimum Required: 8+ years of institutional trading experience covering Canadian institutions from a broad equity standpoint.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Minimum Required: FINRA Series 7, 57, 63 licenses.
- Minimum Required: CSC and CPH.
Systems & Technology:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Order Management Systems (OMS).
- Prior experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM database tracking revenue and interactions.
